On June 13, 2002 the United States will become the first major power to withdraw from an established arms control treaty, the Anti-Ballistic Missile (ABM) Treaty. In doing so, the President of the United States is demonstrating his leadership for international anarchy, for unilateral executive action that disregards the Congress on critical foreign policy decisions, and for placing the law of force over the force of law in international relations.

Fax your Senators asking them to block this action!

First, the Fair Elections Act doesn't even come close to passing. 80% of Americans say that campaign money has too much influence on candidates, but then you voted against a proposition that would remedy that, at least in Austin? And now Austin has lost a devoted public servant in Beverly Griffith.

80% of French voters turned out to vote, but a measly 8.95% of Austin voters turned out this Saturday. What the hell is wrong with the people in this country? Voting is a privilege, and you should thank your lucky stars that you happened to be born in a country that allows such a privilege. Anyone who doesn't vote should be forced to live in a godforsaken third-world dictatorship for a year. Maybe then you'd appreciate having a voice in your government.

I'm so disappointed in my fellow "citizens" right now that I can't even think straight. I guess I'll let someone else say it all for me. And he's right -- we are a goddamn lazy country.
