We could all learn from Google: "You can make money without doing evil." And as long as I'm plugging Google... If you're an outstanding software developer, computer scientist, or product manager, consider applying to work at Google.

Campaign finance reform passes...finally! Next up: full public financing of all elections! You scoff, but it can be done. It just has to happen from the bottom up. Contact someone in your state to get the ball rolling.

A man is arrested and prosecuted because he "consciously disregarded an unjustifiable risk of public inconvenience or alarm." Huh? Whatever happened to that thing...oh what was it? I think it's the uh...First Amendment? It's there to protect the people who say what's unpopular -- why would we need to protect the people that say what's popular?

All Things Considered and Terry Gross of Fresh Air won't interview the author of the #1 book in the country?!? I'm going to email both shows to request that they interview Michael Moore, and you should do the same! Email ATC at atc@npr.org, and email Terry Gross at FreshAir@whyy.org.

Speaking of movies, I forgot to mention that I saw Last Party 2000 during the SXSW Film Festival. If it's playing near you, you must see it! Philip Seymour Hoffman's facial expressions are hilarious, not to mention all the great interviews throughout. And if you know how I could get a videotape of it, can you please let me know? The official web site has been down since I saw the movie, the SXSW people haven't responded to me, and I'm dying to get my hands on a videotape of that movie!

One of the last remaining art movie houses in Austin closes its doors today, so I saw one last movie there -- The Affair of the Necklace. It was okay, but nothing special. I wish I had seen Amelie a second time instead! Ah, well. Goodbye, Arbor Cinema. I'll miss you.

Last weekend, I picked up a book called How the Left Can Win Arguments and Influence People: A Tactical Manual for Pragmatic Progressives, and I've been reading it here and there. It's not as manipulative as it sounds -- it actually encourages you to not sacrifice your principles in the interest of "coalition-building", but rather to recognize which arguments are more effective than others. I highly recommend it.

Speaking of Jim Hightower...he's helping to set up a county fair with guts. It's coming to Austin, Tucson, Atlanta, and Chicago...so far. If you're jealous of those cities, help set up a stop for the tour in your hometown!

Let's draft Jim Hightower for President! A progressive with his own cowboy hat, indeed.
